Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the group understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • The strong character and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the group access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
